Core Tip: Seafood Barcelona is Southern Europe's newest seafood-industry trade event and brings top buyers and suppliers from around the world together in one convenient location for three days of networking, sourcing new products and services, and doing business.
Barcelona—17 October 2012—Seafood Barcelona, Spain and southern Europe's newest fish and seafood exposition, finished its second day to positive reviews from exhibitors and attending buyers.

Seafood Barcelona features 134 exhibitors, including several top fish and seafood suppliers from Spain and throughout the world. Important buyers from Spain and more than 90 countries are registered to attend the exposition which is produced by North America-based Diversified Business Communications in partnership with Barcelona-based Alimentaria Exhibitions.

"Seafood Barcelona is having a great start," said Liz Plizga, show director from Diversified Business Communications. "The show floor is crowded and the exhibitor booths are busy with buyers and sellers meeting face to face to do business," said Plizga.

"Seafood Barcelona's initial popularity with leading suppliers and buyers attests to the strength of the event's strategic positioning in the huge Spanish and southern European seafood market," said J. Antoni Valls, assistant general manager, Alimentaria Exhibitions.

Exhibitors at the first Seafood Barcelona include notable organizations such as Coast Seafoods (Booth 1-5001), Conservas Dani (Booth 1-3031), Glenmar Shellfish (Booth 1-7033), Marine Harvest, (Booth 1-5001), Krustagroup (Booth 1-3015), Morpol (1-7030), MAGRAMA – Ministerio de Agricultura, Alimentacion y Medio Ambiente (Booth 1-3001) and Parliviet & Van der Plas (Booth 1-6030).

"Seafood Barcelona has just launched, but we have found the presence of a large qualified audience," said Pablo Mujica, CEO Krustagroup. "We have met important buyers from Spain, Italy, Portugual and France," said Mujica.

"Very intense and productive," said Isaac Hermo, commercial director of Belfegó, referring to the first two days of Seafood Barcelona. "Business opportunities have been greater than expected," said Hermo.

"We are very satisfied with the experience," said Oivind Blokkum, marketing director of Norfa, a Norwegian company. "We have met buyers from Spain, France, and Holland and other new contacts that can become future business," said Blokkum.

In the first two days, verified attendees at Seafood Barcelona include buyers from high-volume purchasing companies including Aldi, Angrup, Aramark Servicious de Catering, Axfood, Bon Preu, Carrefour, Consum, Coop Italia, Costa Crociere, El Corte Ingles, La Sirena, Grup Costa, Grupo Eroski, Jerónimo Martins, Iberostar, Loblaw, Pyrenees Sau, Rimi Baltic, Sogenave, Sonae, Superdi, Tesco and more.

Attractions during Seafood Barcelona's first two days have included several well attended Catalan Culinary Demonstrations (Booth 1-4043).

Several key buyers and media woke up well before dawn this morning for a complimentary tour of the nearby Mercabarna Central Fish Market before exposition's doors opened at 10 a.m. The market is one of Europe's largest wholesale markets and distribution centers of its kind and reinforces Barcelona's superiority as an economic center for the global fish and seafood industry.

The three-day Seafood Barcelona concludes Wednesday, 4 p.m., at the Fira Barcelona – Gran Via. There is still time to register to attend the event onsite.
