Will US meat plants be sequestered?

Tyson Foods Inc. and Cargill, two of the largest US meatprocessors, don't think federal inspectors are going to disappearbecause of mandatory budget cuts --anyway, not before April atthe earliest, they believe.

We are hopeful USDA will formulate a common sense plan that willnot interrupt the production of food for Americans and consumersaround the world who enjoy US meat products, said Mike Martin, aspokesman for Cargill, in an e-mail. Gary Mickelson, spokesmanfor Tyson, sent a similar e-mail.
