Guernsey Dairy halts production of organic milk

US-based Guernsey Dairy has halted the production of organic milk, due to due to decline in milk yields as a result of sustained wind and rain and poor crop harvests.

The company will import Jersey milk to make up for the shortage, reported the BBC.

Guernsey Dairy general manager Andrew Tabel said that they will evaluate if the organic milk can be reintroduced in a week.

It is the first time in five years that the milk is being imported, Tabel added.
