Health Canada has reaffirmed that bisphenol A (BPA) is safe to be used in food packaging and does not pose a health risk.
This is the latest update by the agency, which conducted an assessment in 2008. The announcement comes when the substance has been banned from being used in infant bottles since 2008.
In 2010, Environment Canada (EC) added BPA to the list of toxic substances.
The latest update comes after Health Canada carried out a probabilistic assessment and studied BPA concentrations
