Kurdistan region bans imports of agricultural products to support local farmers

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) is implementing a comprehensive reform plan to develop the agricultural sector in the Kurdish region of Iraq and expand the market for Kurdish products worldwide.

As part of the reforms, export duties have been lifted, allowing local companies to export fruit and vegetable surpluses. Seeking to support local farmers and give preference to domestic products, the KRG has imposed restrictions on the import of cucumbers.
