ilever is beginning two pilots to trial warmer ice cream freezer cabinets to reduce energy use and greenhouse gas emissions by 20 30% per freezer, while ensuring the same ice cream quality and consumer experience. The pilots start in Germany with a second to follow in Indonesia next year. Unilever says the trials are to explore and understand the product performance of its ice cream and the energy consumption of freezers at warmer -12C temperatures, in real life conditions.
