Crop damage assessment of Rs 300,000 in Sirmaur

The Sirmaur district is known for various stone fruits like apricot, apple, peach, plum, mango, lime, guava, litchi, mango and pomegranate. As many as 12,708 growers suffered a loss of Rs 262,000 (2,800) in Sirmaur district due to hailstone and high-velocity winds on nine occasions in April and May. These crops suffered 40 per cent loss with the maximum damage having been caused from May 1 to May 3 where 2,086 farmers had suffered loss on an area measuring 965 hectares.
