Turkish carrots replace local Georgian goods

For Georgia, August carrot imports were the highest in 2021 compared to figures from the last five years. Last month, Georgia imported 506 tons of carrots, which is 2.3 times more than the average for August 2014-2020. As always, Turkey was the largest exporting country, accounting for over 90% of Georgias carrot imports.

The unusually high imports were due to high prices in the local market, which were, in turn, caused by low local supplies. Imports are high in September as well. Overall, Turk
