Kerala pineapple growers are leaving their crops unpicked

In the state of Kerala, the second Covid-19 wave has brought new worries for pineapple growers. Due to curbs and lockdowns, the markets are deserted and prices have plummeted. Despite the festival of Ramadan, pineapple growers have nothing to rejoice about, as they are forced to leave the fruits on the plant.

The President of Pineapple Growers Association Kerala, Baby John, has estimated a staggering loss of Rs. 1 bln (11 mln) during the festival season alone due to movement restrictions.
