US considers doubling pear exports to India

India imported 108,000 boxes worth $3 million last season, which ranks it the sixth-largest market for USA Pears.

Pear Bureau Northwest -supporting about 900 pear growing farmers of the US- plans to double pear exports to India to 220,000 boxes (of 20 kg each) in next 2-3 seasons as it widens reach to tier-II and -III cities through the tie-up with almost all the large modern trade retail chains including Future Group, Reliance Retail and Aditya Birla Retail.
