ustralia is only a small player on the international market, with less than 1% of the global kaki production. Last year, 2,519 tons were grown, but the value of Australian kakis did increase. Exports also increased by 28%, to 183 tonnes, and by 48% in terms of value. The market is now looking into whether it is possible to stimulate domestic demand. Only 9% of households consume kakis. The fruit is also imported from New Zealand and the US.
