The Philippines Department of Agriculture (DA) said it will set aside a P300-million (5 mln) loan facility for onion farmers' cooperatives in Occidental Mindoro. Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piol said the loans will be used to purchase onions of the cooperatives' members for at least P15 (0.26) per kilo. This is amid the drop in onion prices.
The loan facility, which can be up to P150,000 per cooperative, will also be available in other provinces that grow onions, such as Iloilo, Nueva Ecija,
