Australian beverage giants will stop using plastic straws

Coca-ColaAmatil, Australia's largest soft drink producer and distributor, has announced that it will no longer distribute plastic straws or stirring rods in the country, but will provide paper straws that are completely recyclable and biodegradable.

The company's chief executive, Ms. Widkin, said that all its Australian packaging would be fully recyclable by 2025.

McDonald's has said it will phase out plastic pipes across Australia by 2020, and Starbucks has promised to eliminate them from all
