Syrian government bans export of potatoes until January 2019

ted out that what is currently produced in Syria is not enough to cover the needs of the local market, and potatoes are considered a basic product that cannot be dispensed with.

The prices of potatoes have increased significantly in Syrian markets recently. In the capital markets, they can cost up to 400 pounds (0.68 Euro) per kilo.

The Syrian regime had recently been exporting potatoes to Iran under an agreement signed last May by the Syrian Trade and Labor Organization.
