The asparagus harvest in the Yaqui and Mayo Valley has begun. This year, producers aim at surpassing the volume achieved last year, thanks to the great demand in the United States, where nearly 90 percent of the production is sent.
The harvest of some products that were established in the region during this autumn winter cycle began in October. Producers expect yields of 1,500 to 1,300 boxes per hectare and a 20% increase in production over 2017.
