The evolution of glass bottles has changed the way wine gets to consumers. Once it became easy to create glass bottles in large amounts, sizes and shapes became uniform for the sake of shipping. The shapes of wine bottles have changed over and over throughout the past few hundred years, but now there are certain standard bottles the industry uses for specific varietals all over the world. The majority of wine you'll see on the store shelf comes in one of four bottle shapes.
