Some tips from the CDC include:

Wash hands before and after handling raw chicken
Do not wash raw chicken before preparing it (this can spread germs to other areas)
Cook chicken to an internal temperature of 165F
Of those sickened, the oldest person was 76 and the youngest was less than one year old, according to the CDC.
