Strawberry glut: Farmers urge shoppers to buy-up

It's peak strawberry season at the moment, with the fruit being sold for as low as $1 a punnet in some supermarkets.

Although this is great for consumers, it has been terrible for farmers.

Queensland strawberry growers are now struggling to survive what they say is the worst glut in the industrys history.

Last week one of the states iconic strawberry farms shut its doors and theres concern more farms will follow.

Growers are calling for an inquiry into the role of the major supermarkets in
