The Co-operative to use recyclable material for own-brand onion

The Co-operative Food, a UK-based retail chain, has changed the packaging on its own-brand onion to a recyclable material, a move which allows about 32 tons of packaging to be recycled annually.

Changing the packaging from polypropylene to polythene enables the bags to be recycled, which otherwise would have been sent to the landfill, reported Fdin.org.uk.
This initiative will allow the company to feature industry-wide On-Pack Recycling Label on its onion packs. This decision was taken in co-op
