Lupin May Cause Allergic Reactions in Peanut Allergic Consumers

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a consumer advisory notifying those who are allergic to peanuts that they may also have a reaction to lupin, a legume that is used in gluten-free foods. Some peanut-allergic people can have a reaction to this product, but others may only be allergic to lupin.

In mid-May, Loblow Companies recalled pancake mixes because they contained lupin pulse flour. The flour was correctly identified on the label, but there was no mention of peanut allergies.
