EFSA report: Highest MRL exceedance rates in broccoli samples

The European Food Safety Authority EFSA has released a new report with analytic data of residues contaminants in fresh produce in EU member states. According to the report, 97.2% of the 84,341 samples analysed in 2015 were free of quantifiable residues or contained residues within the legally permitted levels.

In 2.8% of the samples, the residue levels exceeded the MRLs (2,366 samples). Taking into account the measurement uncertainty, 1.6% of the samples (1,346 samples) clearly exceeded these
