Vietnam spends $344mn importing Chinese and Thai fruits

Vietnam is increasingly becoming a great potential market for fruit exports. Despite higher prices, imported fruits have increasingly won over Vietnamese consumers at a time when the food security of local produce remains a big issue.

Vietnams fruit exports fetched more than $1 billion in the Jan-Aug period, but imports also rose 36.9 percent year on year to $529 million, according to a report by the General Department of Vietnam Customs.
