Van der Mey-Barendrecht has been producing sweetcorn in Germany for some years. It is best to have a lot of maize during the summer holidays, but maize has grown very slowly this year, so the economic bubble came after most holidays had finished. Fortunately, we had perfect BBQ weather last week and the forecasts are for the trend to continue, so the sales have skyrocketed, says Anglique van der Mey.
We have sold more maize than in previous years, but this could be due to the hail damage most
