China: a growing market
Southern China, namely the provinces of Guangzhou and Hainan, has a small avocado production. The planting remains limited and there is no commercial production. Avocados are becoming a popular import fruit, especially in the big cities on the East Coast. Mexico and Chile have access to the Chinese market, and last year, Peru received also permission to export.
