Listeria scare forces US recall

Announcing the recall, the US Department of Agricultures Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said that the recall applied to 1.5lb and 2lb packages of Cedar Grove Red Hots from the Enslin Son Packing Company which bore the number P-31806 inside the USDA inspection mark and had a use-by date of 09/24/2012 or 09/28/2012.

The contamination was discovered as result of routine testing and there have been no reports of illness associated with consumption of the product.
