Western Australian Farmers Sow Record Amounts of Canola

Grain handler Co-operative Bulk Handling's Geraldton port manager Duncan Gray says early estimates indicate close to to 200,000 hectares has been sown to canola in the Geraldton zone.

ABC reports that canola planting has been rising in the zone. 125,000 hectares were sown in 2011, rising to 166,000 hectares in 2012 and 183,000 hectares in 2013.

We have seen an enormous increase in GM canola, and little decrease in non-GM, Mr Gray sa0d.
