UK Lamb Production Expected to Continue to Rise

ourable weather for most of 2013-2014, lambing rates will improve to a national average of over 122 per cent for 2014, compared with about 117 per cent in 2013.

Consequently, the lamb kill in 2014 is forecast to be up five per cent year on year at 13.06 million head, despite being down in the first part of the year.
If conditions remain favourable, the expectation is for further uplift in 2015.

Lamb weights are expected to remain slightly higher for the rest of 2014. For 2015, broadly average
