Italian Families' Shopping Baskets Continue To Shrink

Italian families' grocery shopping habits are increasingly beginning to resemble what they were 10 years ago, as less money is spent on average per month, and less meat is purchased. It reflects the shrinkage the nation's economy has undergone.

Families in Italy spent on average 2,359 on grocery shopping in 2013, which is down 2.5 per cent on 2012, researchers have found; in 2004, the figure stood at 2,381. They are increasingly inclined towards discount stores.
