Supermarket Italian Food A 'Con', Says Chef Antonio Carluccio

Veteran Italian chef Antonio Carluccio has hit out at supermarket pasta and sauces, saying the products are a bit of a con.

Carluccio, 77, known for his restaurant chain, has accused the supermarkets of fooling shoppers into paying too much for poor-quality items.

Fresh pasta being sold in the supermarkets is packaged in a way to make it weigh more, he claimed, and as a result, it costs more.
