Food companies in UK to introduce confectionery calorie cap

Major food companies in the UK have agreed to introduce a cap on calorie count in confectionery items.

Industry giants including Nestl and Ferrero have agreed with the country's Food and Drink Federation (FDF) on a 250-calorie cap on individually wrapped confectionery offerings.

The companies plan to complete the work latest by 2016, which provides them adequate time to reformulate their products.
