The increase was primarily the result of a loss in inventory of $0.09 million and marketing expenses of $0.25 million related to our black hog program, partially offset by a reduction of $0.22 million in administrative expenses.
Net Income for the first quarter of 2014 was $0.30 million, compared to a net loss of $0.18 million for the same period of 2013. The combination of an increase in revenue and a decrease in selling, general, and administrative expenses led to the return to profitability.
