U.S.D.A. sees ample sugar supply in 2014-15

Total sugar use was seen at 12,229,000 tons, down slightly from the current year due to a lower estimate for the other use category, which includes transfers to sugar-containing products for re-export and for feed and nonedible alcohol/ethanol. The other category was boosted to a high level in 2013-14 due to the U.S.D.A.s exchange of excess sugar for re-export credits in an effort to avoid loan forfeitures.
