In response to requests for a ban on the additive, an FDA spokesperson said that the agency uses an extensive, science-based process for evaluating food additives safety and that when theyre used within the approved conditions, there is a reasonable certainty of no harm.
The agency monitors the safety of food additives, including azodicarbonamide, and is prepared to take appropriate action if safety concerns arise, they said.
