For the 52-week period stretching into the middle of last month, retail fruit sales in the United States continued to outpace those of the previous 52-week period. Sales of vegetables were also strong.
According to data from FreshLook Marketing, the average price per pound of fruit increased for the 52-week period ending on August 11 by almost five percent when compared to the previous 52-week period. That climb in price was accompanied by an 8.6% increase in berry sales for the same period,
