Argentine supermarket sales rose 16.5%

In July, supermarket sales in Argentina rose 16.5% at seasonally adjusted constant prices, said the government yesterday.

Sales rose 0.9% from June, also on seasonally adjusted prices, said the report by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INDEC).

Sales at current prices, which reflect the impact of inflation in the country, and which private analysts estimate at an annual 25%, grew 24% in the seventh month of the year from the same period last year, to $10,871, 8 million (or $US
