According to the latest data from FruitImprese, the flux of fruit and vegetable imports in Italy between January and May 2013 surpassed that of exports.
Despite the fact that exported volumes decreased (-12.7%), the economic result was rather good (+9.4%). The balance is of around 348 million Euro, 5.5% less than the same period in 2012.
Overall, in the first five months of 2013, Italy exported around 1.48 million tons of fruit and vegetables for a total value of 1.70 billion Euro.
