Chinese agricultural food prices rise

Prices of agricultural foodstuffs in China rose by a small amount in the week of 19-25 August according to a survey of 36 medium and large sized cities conducted by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce.

The retail price of chicken and eggs kept rising, with eggs up by 0.6 per cent and chicken up by 0.1 per cent.

Retail prices of food grains saw a steady rise, with small packaged flour up by 0.2 per cent, and the prices of small packaged rice steady. The average wholesale prices for meat saw both
