UK's FSA announces major plan to tackle campylobacteriosis

ylobacteriosis in the UK and other EU countries can be attributed to poultry and the majority of these are likely to be linked to raw poultry meat.

An FSA survey of chicken on sale in the UK (2007/8) indicated that 65% of chicken on sale in shops was contaminated with campylobacter, with recent monitoring showing little change in this figure.

Campylobacteriosis is also the top foodborne problem across the EU with an estimated 9 million cases arising each year. The cost to public health systems
