METRO Inc. reported that its third-quarter net income increased to C$149.8 million, from C$144.4 million, last year. Net earnings per share rose to C$1.55 from C$1.43 prior year. Adjusted net earnings from continuing operations was C$149.9 million or C$1.55 per share for the quarter.
Sales were C$3.57 billion, compared to C$3.60 billion last year, down 0.7%. Excluding the one-day shift of a holiday versus last year and the closure of some unprofitable stores, third-quarter sales remained stable
