In 2012 sweetcorn was grown on 24,000 hectares in France, the total harvest was 170,000 tonnes. This put the size of the area back on the same level as in 2008, after the cultivation dipped in 2010. According to a report in the French professional magazine FLD the cultivation was only 16,500 hectares in 2010, reports the German Agrarmarkt Informations-Gesellschaft (AMI) on its website.
