Belle Foods, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on July 1, has sought court approval to close 13 of its 57 stores.
The stores 12 doing business as Food World and one under the Piggly Wiggly banner would close on or before Aug. 8, Belle said in a filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court here. The papers seek approval for Hilco Merchant Resources to begin going-out-of-business sales at the 13 stores beginning Thursday.
