131 sickened by hepatitis A outbreak linked to pomegranate seeds in berry mix

ix distributed by Oregon-based Townsend Farms and sold at Costco stores in the western U.S. since late May. By late last week, health officials had identified the pomegranate seeds that were part of the mix as the likely source of the virus. The seeds were shipped to the U.S. by Goknur Foodstuffs Import Export Trading of Turkey.

As a result, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced Saturday that it will detain all shipments of pomegranate seeds from Turkey.
