“Untargeted” infrared approach to prevent milk adulteration

The cross-company initiative, which is being headed by the International Dairy Federation (IDF), will enable the screening of milk for a range of known adulterants, as well as offering the ability to detect the presence of unknown pollutants.

The adulteration of milk has become a common occurrence in some countries most notably China and India. It is often done in an effort to increase the financial value of milk by changing its composition.
