Adulteration rife in India’s milk bowl

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) compiled a survey to inspect loose and packaged milk in major Indian states.

Findings showed thatGujarat failed miserably with 89% of samples not conforming to standards.

Gujarat, where Indias white revolution began to achieve self-sufficiency for the country in milk production, also saw urban samples fare badly when compared to samples collected from rural areas.

All 85% of the samples collected in the cities did not meet the quality
