Sarah Bradley, Symington's operations director, said she expected to see more UK firms relocating production back home from China because it was cheaper to do so.

She said: Labour costs have increased quite significantly in China over the last couple of years.

It's very much about shortening our supply chain. You can appreciate from a customer's perspective, they want to run a promotion, they want to place an order, they don't want to wait eight to 10 weeks for the noodles to arrive.
