Symington's transfers Chinese noodle work to Yorkshire

Symington's, the Leeds-based manufacturer of Golden Wonder's pot noodles, expects to have the new factory in Hunslet open in August.

It has cancelled contracts with two Chinese factories, one in Guangzhou province and one in Hangzhou.

A spokesman said the move would create up to 50 jobs in Leeds and save money.

Symington's said it currently took eight to 10 weeks to source noodles from China.

The company has taken a long-term lease on a 70,000 sq ft (6,500 sq m) factory in Old Run Road in Hu
