There was a time, some 20 years ago, when California's Mondavi Winery looked into buying Oregon Pinot Noirbut backed away on account of the weather. We agreed to sell Pinot Noir to Mondavi in 1993, recalled Rollin Soles, now owner of Roco Winery and then head winemaker at Argyle Winery (where he remains a consultant).
