Researchers at the Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics have confirmed that weather has disrupted activity in the Rio Grande do Sul area.
Traders have indicated that stocks are low but expectations of the following season are high which has has been driving rice prices down.
The rice indicator shows a fall of 236 per cent at the Brazilian commodities exchange.
