A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggeststhat taking vitamin D3 supplements may drastically reduce the odds for a school child to get influenza andits efficacy may be comparable to what is seen in influenza vaccine.
The randomized trial led by Mitsuyoshi Urashima from Jikei University School of Medicine Minato-ku inTokyo, Japan and colleagues shows that schoolchildren who took vitamin D3 supplements were 64percent less likely to contract seasonal influenza A viral infection
