DBDMH, however, is likely to be used to treat meat and poultry, as well as water in ice-making systems for use in poultry processing.

This approval comes after Elanco Animal Health sought FSANZ to approve DBDMH use in food.

In response, FSANZ noted it had conducted the appropriate assessment and found the substance was fit for purpose and posed no public health risks.
